It's Mickey (Mau5 That Is).

Anyone that follows Mickey Factz, (@MickeyFactz ya dig), or on his Tumblr, can see Mickey is into art. He has Friday visits at MoMa in NYC, for crying out loud. Former paralegal. Rapper, singer at the flip of a coin. It makes for a generally well rounded dude from Bronx residing in the greater NYC area, the axis of culture. So Mickey took all of his art influences, which include Fab 5 Freddy, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Jean-Michel Basquiat and others from the graffiti era, and created a storyline for his next project, Mickey Mau5. Rock, pop and hip-hop reign supreme with rip production from deadmau5 and Danger Mouse. Listen to the sampler below.

GB HIGHLIGHTS: MICKEY FACTZ x FREE SHOW

As part of Apple's Black Music Month Celebration, all around the US in the month of June free shows are going down in Apple Stores to the likes of Ryan Leslie, Big K.R.I.T, and Tabi Bonney. Last Thursday, fans stood in line in NYC waiting for a wristband for the next big thing on Jive, Mickey Factz.

SneakerBox Chock was the opening set. Before his pool of too-hip guests the Camden, NJ rapper performed some of his bangers to an unsuspecting crowd. Most of his set was bombarded with swarms of sirens and bringing the beat back, typical DJ stuff. And when it became too much for the room to handle, he spat a freestyle about his imperfect past and asked the audience something like, "What did you expect? Me to come up here and say I was the number two best rapper?" (And while that was a valid affirmative point, it took the audience a bit of time to warm up to it.) Performing "Shoestrings," "Shades," and "Move," SneakerBox worked hard, but gained some head-boppers at the end of his set.

He gave the stage to Mickey Factz, who came on stage wearing white, skinny jeans and printed tee included. He didn't get too far in before he performed some new hits off of his debut album, The Achievement, like "For the Culture" sans Marsha Ambrosius and a new track called "Dusk Till Dawn." In the thought-provoking but dance party track about an ex, Mickey sang relatively high over a pop production, and jumped up and down in place to the raving beat. It's not much different than "It's Automatic," but it experiments with a bit more crossover dance music. Mickey also performed "It's Automatic," "Paradise," "Diamond Dust," and a fly "We Young" in which at the "don't stop, get it get it" part he did a cool two step, a little pop/lock action. Post show, he greeted fans and snapped flicks.

After six mixtapes and on the cusp of a label LP he ended the night ready to take on the world, or at least, album sales.

The album, The Achievement, comes out this fall on Jive records.

"Gibberish" is my favorite song by Ryan Leslie. I love the way it starts. This show was very inspiring. Ryan put his own glory into the atmosphere, not without sprinkling some wisdom dust onto the listeners. Call it a Blue Thumb...

Blue Thumb- Kind of like a sore thumb, but when something sticks out like a blue thumb the connotation here will be a tad more pleasant. For this we turn to the quote that pretty much inspired my fashion style. That stuff in that pic, I wrote that too. What?!? Stay tuned.

Mickey Factz's latest mixtape, I'm Better Than You, challenges haters and shows vulnerability, as Mickey pronounces his position over others in life, while sharing about un-returned female BBM's at the same time, retorting, "If you ain't gonna respond, then why you read it for?" There is champion production in "Legend," the club inspiration in the smiling and yet depressed "Mona Lisa," and the literal audio remnant sprinkling of "Diamond Dust." For all those who have been following Mickey from the beginning, there are no disappointments.

Look for Chester French, Bun B, Fat Joe, Steve-O, Count Jus, Redd Stylez, Lundon, Kara Rose, B.O.B., and Big K.R.I.T., and production from Precize, Don Cannon, and Sean C & LV. Noteable mention: Hype-men DJ Enuff and DJ Quiz.
