The Story: V V Brown can sing, write, produce, model, and more. She would grow up on the heels of the acts Queen and Aretha Franklin, and fell in love with performing at an early age. Yet it wasn’t until the age of 19 where she moved to LA to start recording her first album, Traveling Like The Light.

Among the highlights of the album were “Crying Blood” about an ex who had done her wrong, and “Shark in the Water” about proceeding with caution to dangers ahead. The album went to number 1 in France (Digital Album's Chart). Along the way V V earned credits co-writing and background singing for the Pussycat Dolls and Sugarbabes. The family oriented singer has had her siblings sing background for her and open for her at her shows. She has also modeled in many outlets, including Vogue, and recently, U.K. based Mark and Spencer (V V also has her own vintage line as well, called VVVintage).

On February 7 This summer, V V will release her second offering on the Capitol/Universal/Island labels, Lollipops & Politics. Much of the inspiration for the first single, “Children,” comes from the riots of 2011 in London. Other tracks on the album, “Be Yours” and "Like Fire," are about V V’s new perspective on love, as told through the eyes of someone who no longer has that break-up hanging over her head.

Sometimes, hiding an important message in head-bopping production can surprise us with an “A-Ha” moment. V V admittedly takes the blame, “There is a lot going in the world today and taking the time out to make this second record got me thinking and asking a lot of questions especially in regards to the youth,” V V says. "Lollipops & Politics is about this dilemma. It’s a positive way to somehow talk about some serious things.”

Coloring Outside The Lines Because: Look past V V’s mod image and what do you see? A talented singer/songwriter, with music that crosses genres. She has turned all of her life experiences and views into comprehensible and fitting metaphors. Aside from her catchy and fun music, she makes you think.
