OTLC 2--AMERICAN BANG

Name: American Bang

I first heard about American Bang because they were featured on  Greek's Season One Finale on ABC Family. After, I was completely hooked from "Move To The Music." Gotta love how MTV, the CW, and ABC Family always share where to find the music they feature in their shows! It's very nice.

Locality: Nashville, Tennessee, USA
Crayon Color: Rustic Green: It's that down south horse riding sound, those hoe-down cowboy boots sinking in against the grass, get down, rock.

The story: One of American Bang's first critics called their lyrics "cliche" and described their guitar skills with the phrase "b-level rock riff." Ouch. But instead of putting fist to face, Jaren Johnston, (lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist) put pen to the pad, and drummed up some songs that the slick worded critic could really boogie to. Catching the attention of producer Bob Rock was no sweat after that. They recorded with him in Nashville at Blackbird Studio's and at his humble abode in Hawaii. Kelby Rae, (bassist), says, “Bob’s a true mad scientist of music and we all loved what he did. He captured us as who we are, and who we want to be too. This is the album that we’ve all waited to make.”
Well, the wait is over.

You may have seen them at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo. Now, they'll be infiltrating your space with their self-titled debut album on August 31. The album is on the Reprise Records imprint.

Coloring outside the lines because: They make rock classic again, & fun, sans the emo, eating bird heads, and tongue gore (at least not yet:). But truly they've planted the seeds for having a large audience and timeless songs. Bringing it back to glory days only held by certain 80's bands such as Aerosmith, they emphasize forward production on an amp electric guitar, describable and sing-along-able prongs, & Jaren's light "frog-in-throat" vocal quality giving songs edge.

Think: Beer-pong soundtrack meets summer southern anthems, sunny days. Short skirts and cowboy boot combo's. Lads' overused and over-washed thin fabric cotton logo T-shirts and tight jeans. A less dramatized & compressed hair band. Patriot music.
