GIRL BLUE SEES THE LIGHT: A FOUR YEAR REFLECTION

Hi guys, It’s been four years! Carvel cake time!

First off I’d like to thank you for reading my blog. Thanks for tuning in. All of you are important to me, even if it is just one person. Thank you publicists and thank you artists, and thank you for everyone that has given me the time of day.

Thank you to all the people I told that checked it out, people showing up out of the woodwork, and all the interest and support I have gotten from sharing this site with you.

I’d just like to take this time out and let you know, especially if you are just reading for the first time, who I am, and a little background on Girl Blue Sees The Light.

Girl Blue Sees The Light stands for many things. One, it stands for listening to the radio’s hum-drum same 7-song rotation every 30 minutes airplay, to the point in which you will know certain songs that you abhor by heart. It stands for a sonic enlightenment. Everyone doesn’t carry a radio around, but most can download music and listen to mixtapes, satellite radio, and albums off their phone and computer. All in all it is just a new way of getting your music, and more control over what you listen to.

Another meaning of Girl Blue Sees The Light is alchemy. It’s simply an air of darkness made to transform to an air of light. If Girl Blue has Seen the Light, then she is no longer blue anymore (she probably would be green, color wise, but that’s not what I’m getting at lol). It is a symbol of renewal. I understand that a true artist gets to the bottom of his or her feelings to create the most honest meaning of expressions, however, there is also an energy I want to create on here, so when you come here you feel… lighter (no pun intended).

Theres a few questions that if you have never been here before I’d like to answer….

Why should I read this blog at all? Why your blog?
I can spot the next superstar from like eons away, so you’ll know before anyone else. There’s also some great music on here, positive but not cheeky, fun but not in a trendy way. You’re getting quality music here. You’re getting an all around artist, all around meaning their recordings are on point, their television appearances are on point, and most of all they know how to perform LIVE. I’ve seen many of the people on the blog rock the house and have met many of them as well, and they’re just DOPE all around.

Who’s the girl behind the blog?
Indeed, a bot did not write this! I am a living breathing human being. Yet I have decided to give the shine to the artists who deserve it. If you want the more personal side, I’d like to direct you to the original stories to the left of the tab bar on the top of the webpage. Penny S. Cilpen is a fictional character, but I get inspired by life and I use her to channel it. The entire blog, I believe is a creative use of my personal expression, and I have more ideas up my sleeve.

Don’t know who I am? Go to “Who Am I” in the right sidebar list.

I am a little confused as to what OTLC stands for.  Elaborate?
The OTLC are the artists to watch. OTLC stands for “Outside The Lines Crew,” and they are called that because they color outside the lines with their work, like a kindergarten kid would. Kindergarten kids have no inhibitions, and they are free. They don’t know about rules or regulations, and they express themselves boldly. When young kids color, they color all over the place! They do not fit in the lines of which they color, as true artists do not fit in the confines of labels or boxes.

What proof do you have that you can spot the next big thing?
Something I want to say about finding the next big thing—all the artists on my blog deserve success, but as you know and I know, accolades and stats don’t due some artists justice. Nas has never won a Grammy. Just think about that.

So, with that being said,
1) Ariana Grande is an amazing singer that I did an OTLC on when she was on Victorious and just got signed to Universal Republic. Her first album went number 1 on the Billboard Charts.
2) Aaradhna is a talented soul crooner from New Zealand, and her last album, Treble & Reverb, has gone Gold. She is now working with Truth & Soul (of Adele fame) for her next album that should be out within the next year.
4) Kirby Lauryen rose to her own potential by posting over 250 songs-a-day on YouTube. That’s right, she wrote over 250 songs herself, arranged them, and performed them on the piano in front of the world, every day without fail straight. She since has been signed as a songwriter to Roc Nation, writing for Kat Dahlia, and Ariana Grande.

And more to come!

You don’t post ANY of the people that are on the radio at all? I want to hear some pop and some rap.
Don’t get me wrong, I like listening to the radio, in small increments. But if I posted what everyone else posted then you could just as likely go to their blog as mine. I also see someone’s music getting big, and the point of my blog is to spot it before it blows up.

I like your stuff. How can I hear more of what you have to say?
There’s a subscribe button in the top right corner. You know what to do! I’ll give opinions of the pop stuff and radio stuff about upcoming artists in my emails that you won’t get on the blog, and I will call out artists that you will probably hear on the radio in the coming months.

If you want to subscribe to my posts (RSS) and not the email list, put your e-mail address in the box that says “RSS Feed Only,” on the right sidebar.

I think you’re onto something, but I know a whole lot more artists coming up that you’re not posting about.
I don’t post about all the artists I know that are coming up, just the ones that I think deserve to blow up. I also want to show you a unique mix of artists that you won’t get anywhere else. If you know someone you think is all around hotness, you can email me at girlbluestl@gmail.com, and if I cannot disagree, I will post about him/her/them, and shout you out for putting me on.

I am an artist. I want to know, how I can send my work to you?
Artists, send your stuff at girlbluestl@gmail.com! I am watching everything and if I like it, I’ll go from there.

Hope you’ll stick around for every next post. --GB
