When it comes to party diddy’s, pop queens, and rap one-liners we all know where we could go, but what about when it comes to some good old fashioned, heart warming soul? Well, look no further than the Scottish superstar who goes by the name of Brendan MacFarlane.
Brendan has been keen at renditions of country, bluegrass, and gospel from a very young age, and his silky riffs and amplified notes haven’t gone unnoticed. He has just turned 16 and is ready to take his talents worldwide. However, there’s five things you should know before you hear him on your country station.
Check out one of Brendan’s throwback video’s from inside the guitar shop!
1) He’ll sing it for you in perfect pitch. Brendan was at a young age when his beloved grandma Peeps stumbled upon the tyke’s talent. After playing Hank Williams’ hit “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” Brendan became sad; he felt the same way for he had no playmates. Peeps and his dad George quickly had him learn the song, to which Brendan learned quickly, and then played it in different keys on the guitar to which Brendan was able to sing effortlessly!
2) He’s a YouTube sensation: His early videos are a testament to his range and depth. Posting covers of hits such as Ray Charles’ “I Got A Woman” and The Drifters’ “Bring It On Home,” Brendan scooped up fans worldwide. Now standing on a page with more than 2.4 million YouTube hits, he’s using that progress to propel him to greater success.
3) Country, Gospel and Bluegrass called his name: Although Brendan likes an array of different genres, country, gospel and bluegrass spoke to him. “I’ve sung a lot of different styles of music but I’ve always been more comfortable singing this rootsier stuff, country and bluegrass—a very American style which originally came from Scotland. I’m learning my way around the keyboards, but at heart I’m a singer and guitarist, and I really just love playing my music for people,” he shares.
4) His real "debut" is already behind him. The singer's debut album has already been released under Zine Records; entitled The Road, it was dedicated to his grandmother Peeps. He celebrates the best of country including Hank Williams’ cover of “Lost on The River.” Showcasing his depth he has released a few gospel and uplifting tracks as well, including “Looking for Jesus,” and “Money Won't.” It was co-written with his father George and Uncle Bizzy.
5) He’s ready to conquer the world. Brendan has put out more material recently, with a more matured voice and openness to all opportunity. The country-soul crooner, whose latest video is entitled “By My Side,” has already gotten some big wigs to take notice (Tyler Perry, anyone?) and is prepared to take the world by its coattails.
