Name: Ariana Grande
Locality: Boca Raton, Florida, USA
Crayon Color: Cupcake Pink— a pastel icing, more on the hot-pink side, that’s sweet and doesn’t taste like dye.

The Story: Backtrack back to 2008, a then 13-year-old Ariana Grande used her big voice to do theater work. She was talented enough to be recognized for her first efforts as Charlotte in 13 The Musical. She won a National Youth Theater Association Award in 2009.

She has sung with various symphonies, including South Florida’s Philharmonic, and Pops and Symphonia Orchestras. The starlet has also put her talents to charity work, participating as a member of a charitable organization called Broadway in South Africa (co-founded by her brother Frankie), where she taught youth the wonders of musical song and dance.

In 2010 Ariana transformed herself for the role of Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s Victorious (now in its third season). The show takes place at a performing arts high school, and follows six teens around as they learn how to act and perform music. On the show, Cat is a free spirit who “lives in her mind.” If you don’t notice her bright red hair, you’ll notice her bold vocals. On signing performances on the show, Ariana’s character shines with a big heart, and even bigger riffs.

Universal since caught notice of these runs, and signed her to a deal on their label in August 2011. She has released two songs at live shows, “Put Your Hearts Up,” with a video for the track premiering on Valentine’s Day (Feb 14), and “Honeymoon Avenue.”

Stay tuned. With a name like Grande, she’s destined to be huge. (<-pun div="">

Coloring Outside The Lines Because: Ariana could win American Idol, if she wanted to. She could give many singers out here a run for their money. No autotune. She’s a powerhouse singer, she sings from the diaphragm and she has control. On Victorious, the times she gets in a solo, it’s like “whoa!”
