The story: 13-year-old Jawan Harris got his start singing at the age of 3, with an early interest in church music that included the likes of Karen Clark Sheard and J. Moss. Turning on the TV and seeing MJ, Usher, and Chris Brown did just about the same in the young star’s life—he was inspired and intrigued. A chance meeting at school would signify his fate, for one of his teachers who had heard him sing knew the aunt of his present manager. After connecting those dots, his new manager brought him to CEO of Bystorm records, Mark Pitts. They had him sing "Nobody," which he nailed, and Pitts signed him to the Bystorm/Jive records imprint the day before his 12th birthday. (vibe/jive)
Jawan’s first single, “Nobody,” and second single “Another Planet,” have recently hit the internet waves. While the former shows his proper boy next door qualities and slick voice, the latter is more of a confident, catchy dance track with cool moves and a collab with Chris Brown.
Coloring Outside the Lines Because: Jawan has the perfect serenading voice. It’s thick, syrupy, timeless, and never misses a key. Jawan can easily pass the teen heartthrob fad stage into a promising career for this reason. While “Nobody” and “Another Planet” are on two sides of the spectrum, they show his versatility and promise.
