NEW VIDEO: SID SRIRAM, "YESTERDAY (RENDITION/BEATLES COVER)"

Sid Sriram just dropped a Beatles cover. It's void of over-production, and with the accompany of a simple guitar, Sid croons a timeless track, "Yesterday." It leads to the release of West Coast Nightfall, pt. II. He is now raising funds via Indiegogo for this purpose.--GB

NEW VIDEO: WILLY MOON, "GET UP (WHAT YOU NEED)"

Willy Moon's got the stuff. In his new video for "Get Up (What You Need)," off of his debut album Here's Willy Moon, Willy talks of his humble beginnings in the biz, starting from nothing and forming his wit and his ardent strength. Simplified with his black and white color scheme, his Buddy Holly structure, and his out-of-this-world production, it's a convincing motivation. --GB

GIRLBLUESTL: A THREE YEAR REFLECTION

Hey guys.

I wasn’t going to put up a personal blog post this year, for fear I couldn’t squeeze out any more positivity, but lookie here, I can.

This year has been awkward, but the light shone bright anyhow. I have learned so much and have become so established personally that I feel very accomplished. I’m working harder too. And just like that, I have to work harder. Because before things were given to me, and that is not so anymore.

Although the essence of being denied (I used that word in my last post, may change it) is not feeling worthy of something, I’m just at that point in which I do not feel I can be denied anything, in essence. In essence, my worth does not come from the journalist who decides they want to talk to me, or the person who decides they want to invite me somewhere, or the publicist, or the artist (or who wants an interview…which had always been a biggie). I’ve gotten by on a ton of no’s, and some blocks. That hasn’t changed. What has changed is I know at least three (if I could put a number on it) times as much as I did last year at this time. Many people do not know that. But hell, they’ll live, they’ll learn.

It’s been a huge transition in assertion for me. Moment of silence to my former self. (______). I experienced a paradigm shift in thinking. This is good. I know for sure I do my best. And then when that doesn’t work, I try harder.

Clearly it’s been three years. I’m a little jaded, but I can still hear the music for what it is, thank God. Some people in this industry do not actually like music—or the music they are promoting. I am not one of them. Most blogs fail within their first three months. I am two years from this being considered by the IRS as a hobby. Yet, it’s still just the beginning folks.

 photo IMG_0289_zps390ffa64.jpg

But one things for sure. I’m still here. Still kicking. And I am not planning on going anywhere.

(And also, to add on to that, some people don’t know what to do with me when they first meet me, but a few years go by and they realize I’m not going anywhere and they warm up to me…

…Just thought I’d like to add that.)

Thanks for all of the readers, publicists, photographers, artists that support (and also, I’d like to add, another interesting tidbit, I’d like to thank everyone that has sent positive energy to me). You’re dope.

See ya,
TR aka

"There's nothing left to believe in. Nothing!"
"Nothing my dear? Now you don't really mean that."
"Oh, but I do!"
"Nonsense child. If you lost all your faith, I wouldn't be here....

And here I am."

NEW VIDEO: SID SRIRAM, "BLOOD ON THE LEAVES (RENDITION/KANYE COVER)"

It's just elegant how Sid Sriram can spin a song like Kanye West's "Blood On The Leaves," and turn it into a type of musical score. Changing around the production a bit did his short clip wonders, and the visual is poignant as ever. Free download below.

Sid is working on his next release, West Coast Nightfall Part II.

GBSTL MUSIC FESTIVAL SCOOP 2013 PT. 2

 photo fest_zpsc794d0e8.jpg

Let's have a vote to make festival season year-round, shall we? Wear scarves and shorts with boots, jackets and bikinis, and shake things up.

Festivals aren't just for the spring-time! Heck, there's a bunch of underground artists waiting to be sought out by big wigs such as the Made In America festival created by Jay-Z on the cusp of fall, and many other festivals spanning the USA that are pleasing to the ear. It's a good time to spot that next hit-maker, but it's also a great time to check out film, theater, art, comedy, and the like. So grab that mini-wallet and that hip earthy outfit, and get ready and raring to go!

NEW VIDEO: LAURA MVULA, "SHE" (ALTERNATE VERSION)

Laura Mvula sparked a lot of buzz with her great debut album Sing To The Moon. Now she drops a version of "She" from the album that's much different from the original version that she released earlier this year. In the first version, the audience follows a little schoolgirl chasing the sun, while a choir sings in blue garb. In the second version, seen above, the audience follows a young girl's growing pains, leading to the juxtaposition of the grown up version of that woman giving birth. Both are very poignant videos, the first being a little lighter in subject matter than the second.

Which one do you like better?
